Inspection

Mobile plant inspections across WA

RedSpec carries out independent mobile plant and heavy equipment inspections across Western Australia, for buyers, hire companies, and asset managers. The deliverable is an Asset Condition Report (ACR): a photo-backed, plain-English record of the machine's condition, written by a trade-qualified mechanic for the person making the decision.

The product

What an ACR is

An Asset Condition Report is an independent written record of a machine's condition at the time of inspection: what was looked at, what was found, photos of the evidence, and a severity-ranked register of every defect. It exists so the person spending the money knows what they are dealing with before they commit.

Every job is built on one product: the RedSpec ACR. A structured walk of the whole machine plus functional testing of every system that can be run on the day, photographed throughout, delivered as a proprietary PDF with Good / Fair / Poor ratings per system, a photo appendix, and a severity-ranked defect register.

That's the base report. When a decision needs more than a visual and functional pass, the ACR can go further: diagnostics, measurement, lab work, scoped and priced with the job.

What RedSpec does not do

  • No repairs and no parts. The report sits separate from any repair revenue.
  • No buy, hold, or pass call. The evidence is presented; the decision is yours.
  • No non-destructive testing (crack testing and similar). Where NDT is warranted, it is referred to specialist providers.

Process

How it works

  1. 01

    Enquiry

Tell us the machine, where it is, and the decision the report has to support. Quote usually within one business day.

  2. 02

    File review

Before going near the machine we work through what you can supply: service history, hours, prior reports. Gaps get noted, not papered over.

  3. 03

    On site

Visual and functional inspection of the machine, photographed as we go. Any add-ons in scope (diagnostics, sampling, downloads) happen in the same visit.

  4. 04

    Report

Findings written up in plain English. Every system rated Good, Fair or Poor, every defect categorised and ranked by severity, with photo references.

  5. 05

    Delivery

PDF report in your inbox within 48 hours of leaving site. Lab results (oil sampling) follow at lab turnaround and are appended. A follow-up call to walk through the findings if you want one.

Safety isn't a box we tick, it's how we operate.

Questions

Common questions

01 Which machine types and makes do you inspect?

RedSpec inspects haul trucks, excavators, dozers, graders, wheel loaders and integrated tool carriers, water carts, service trucks, skid steers and light vehicles. Makes covered include Cat, Komatsu, Hitachi, Liebherr, John Deere, Volvo, Bell, Sany, XCMG, Scania, Kenworth and Isuzu. The method carries to most things on tracks or wheels; if yours is unusual, ask.

02 Can I use the report to negotiate?

Yes. The ACR is written so the findings can go in front of a seller, auctioneer, or hire company as they stand. The photos and the defect register give you specifics to point at; the price conversation stays yours.

03 Do you travel?

Yes. RedSpec works WA wide from a Perth base, covering mine sites, civil projects, yards, and auction houses. Travel is quoted with the job up front.

04 How fast can you attend?

Pre-auction and pre-purchase work often runs on tight clocks, so get in touch with the date as early as you can. Quotes usually go back within one business day and attendance is scheduled around site access.

05 What if access to the machine is restricted?

Anything that cannot be accessed, opened, or tested on the day is recorded as Not assessed rather than guessed at. The report shows exactly what was covered and what was not.

06 Who sees the report?

You do. The report goes to the client who commissioned it and nobody else. RedSpec does not share findings with sellers, dealers, or anyone else in the deal.

07 Does RedSpec tell me whether to buy the machine?

No. The report presents the condition of the machine with the evidence behind every finding. It gives you objective evidence to support the decision; the decision rests with you.
